A well-known analyst has offered some interesting insights into what Apple's pricing strategy could be for the upcoming iPhone 14 lineup and how it will affect the company's overall Average Selling Price (ASP). It seems that it may only be the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max that will see a price hike.

iPhone Apple Leaks / Rumors

The iPhone 14 release date is approaching and Apple is already reportedly working on launching its smartphones for 2022. With that in mind, there has been a lot of talk about the iPhone 14 price tag, with one analyst suggesting that even the standard Apple iPhone 14 would see a price hike. however, rumors have settled on a potential price of $799. Ming-Chi Kuo seems to believe that further price increases will be enough to send Apple's iPhone ASP soaring to new heights.

Industrial analysis

According to a well-respected industry analyst, the combination of iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max price increases, along with a "higher share of shipments," will be enough to push iPhone 14 ASPs to a whopping $1,000-$1,050 range. To put that into some context, he claims that would be 15% higher than the iPhone 13's ASP (figure not listed, but probably around $900). Some data from Counterpoint Research actually helps show just how incredible this increase is, as Apple's total ASP for the iPhone lineup (in this case, probably mostly iPhone 12 and iPhone 13 series units) was estimated at $825 in February 2021.

 

Another perspective is offered by the research firm's average selling price for the entire smartphone market for the year (2020-2021), which stands at $322. Pricing the iPhone 14 Pro at possibly $1,099 and the iPhone 14 Pro Max at $1,199, as reported by LeaksApplePro in January, Apple's iPhone ASP could end up a staggering $678-728 above the market average, leaving a different smartphone. Manufacturers of the original equipment liquidate through narrow profit margins to be in the budget sector. But that high ASP is less of a surprise when you consider that the 1TB variant of the iPhone 14 Pro Max could cost $1,699, with any rumored 2TB model costing around $2,000.
